Beef Application: System Solution

One of the largest beef producers in North America was expanding their facility which increased their wastewater volume to 425,000 gpd at the site. FRC engineers designed a solution to upsize the entire wastewater treatment system including the existing primary DAF system and secondary DAF system to efficiently and cost effectively handle the added demand.

FRC Solution

  • Reactor Tanks – Chemicals dosed to precipitate the colloidal solids and oil emulsifications
  • Primary High Rate DAF – Float the precipitated solids thereby removing Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG), Oil and Grease (O&G), and insoluble Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD)
  • Biological Treatment – Remove soluble BOD and as a result it creates biosolids
  • Secondary Flocculator – Short flocculator to precondition biosolids with flocculant
  • Secondary Open-Style DAF – Float the biosolids, yielding clean effluent water
