Automotive Application: Turnkey Solution

One of the world’s leading manufacturers in the construction and resources, and energy & transportation industry has an automotive axle assembly plant that produces wastewater volumes of over 500,000 gpd with extremely high levels of Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG) and Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD). FRC designed a solution that allowed them to meet discharge requirements for FOG of less than 100 mg/L and TSS of less than 300 mg/L. Using dual-stage treatment, oil was recovered using a FRC CPI oil-water separator prior to a DAF system to bring the client to compliance. FRC has implemented this solution at multiple sites for this client.

FRC Solution

  • OWS – Removed a significant portion of the non-polar material
  • Equalization – Homogenize wastewater for consistent for consistent wastewater characteristics. Aeration mixing is provided to prevent anoxic conditions and formation of ammonia.
  • Flocculator – Chemicals (coagulant, caustic, acid, and polymer) are dosed to precipitate the colloidal solids.
  • High-Rate DAF – Float the precipitated solids, yielding clean effluent water that is in compliance with the TSS and O&G limits
  • Sludge Dewatering – Dewater the DAF sludge to reduce sludge hauling costs
