  • Municipal Wastewater Treatment | FRC Systems

Our municipal Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) units are designed to work with municipal wastewater treatment systems. Enhance your treatment system using dissolved air flotation to thicken waste-activated sludge (WAS) prior to anaerobic digestors or remove algae and phosphorus (TP) using a high-rate DAF. FRC Systems » Industries Municipal Wastewater Browse Case Studies Quick Links APPLICATIONS Algae & Phosphorus Removal WAS Thickening No matter the application, FRC has a state-of-the-art solution for your application. FRC Dissolved Air Floatation (DAF) units are a great addition to municipal wastewater systems to enhance treatment, remove algae and phosphorus from municipal lagoons, thicken Waste-Activated Sludge (WAS) and treat industrial inputs that have not been properly pretreated. No matter the application, FRC has a state-of-the-art solution for your application. These solutions are robust, operator-friendly systems that have a minimal footprint along with low chemical and operating expense, allowing for a cost-effective alternative to traditional solutions. Our municipal Dissolved Air Floatation (DAF) units are designed to work with municipal wastewater treatment systems. Enhance your treatment system using dissolved air flotation to thicken waste-activated sludge (WAS) prior to anaerobic digestors or remove algae and phosphorus (TP) using a high-rate DAF. Algae & Phosphorus Removal Typically, municipalities deal with algae blooms and phosphorus separately. A FRC high-rate Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) system can mitigate the negative impact of algae blooms by effectively removing algae and the associated phosphorus at the same time. These solids can be chemically precipitated out of the wastewater using a coagulant and then agglomerated with a flocculant, which can be done in a Plug Flow Reactor (PFR). A FRC DAF is then used to remove the solids. Total phosphorus removal of up to 99% is possible with this metal-salt precipitation method. System Solution System Solution System Solution WAS Thickening Biological treatment systems with a secondary clarifier produce sludge with a dry solids range of 0.5–1.0%. With so much of the sludge being made up of water, proper thickening mechanisms should be implemented to reduce the volume of sludge sent to an anaerobic digestor or reduce the size of dewatering equipment and solids disposal costs. Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) systems can thicken aerobic and anaerobic sludge to 4-10% solids. In this state, the sludge is better prepared for digestion and dewatering. • Pharmaceutical - Turnkey Solution - FRC Project Profile

A global pharmaceutical company in Asia was combating high Mixed Liquor Suspended Solids concentration (MLSS) and needed to reduce level to stay in compliance. All Projects FRC Systems » Projects Pharmaceuticals Turnkey Solution General Manufacturing Previous Project Next Project FRC Components Flocculator, Open-Style DAF, Reactor Tanks Project Description A global pharmaceutical company in Asia was combating high Mixed Liquor Suspended Solids concentration (MLSS) and needed to reduce level to stay in compliance. FRC supplied the original solution for the facility. After being acquired by another company, the plant was being expanded for additional capacity. FRC was able to leverage the existing DAF and expand the system to handle the additional wastewater generated by the extra capacity. The FRC Solution System Solution: The site was producing wastewater in volumes over 400,000 gpd with high levels of MLSS. The client has an aerobic biological system, which along with the DAF units are used for biosolids separation. Prior to each DAF is a flocculator to agglomerate the biosolids. The DAF units are arranged in a duty/standby configuration per the bid specification. Flocculator (duty/standby) – Polymer dosed to agglomerate the biosolids Open-Style DAF (duty/standby) – Float the agglomerated biomass, yielding clean effluent water Turnkey Solution: A decade later, the client was expanding their production plant, and expected wastewater generation to reach 750,000 gpd. Based on an FRC site survey, the client did not need to change size of the DAF units for of the higher flow rates. The flocculators and polymer dosing equipment did need to be upsized. Instead of replacing the existing flocculators, FRC proposed a solution using continuously stirred tank reactors (CSTR). Although a CSTR would need a low-power mixer, the auxiliary equipment and piping could remain the same. FRCs solution included the demolition of the existing flocculators as well as the turnkey mechanical and electrical installation of the new CSTR systems and polymer dosing equipment. Reactor Tank (duty/standby) – Polymer dosed to agglomerate the biosolids DAF (duty/standby) – Float the agglomerated biomass, yielding clean effluent water Parameter Design Data Flow (gpm) 500 Flow (m3/h) 114 MLSS (mg/L) 7180 Design Data Previous Project Next Project Submit a Project Profile Have a Question? Most of the wastewater is generated from produced water along with some flowback water. The FRC solution included a trailer mounted DAF, stand-alone flocculator, and pump house. This DAF treatment yielded frac-grade-quality water which allowed for water re-use. Our design is plug and play, has a much lower mobilization and demobilization cost, 6” manifolded hose connections and protects the rotating equipment from the elements. The FRC Solution Flocculator Stand-Alone – Chemicals dosed to precipitate the colloidal and oily solids DAF – Float the precipitated solids, yielding clean effluent water for water re-use Pump House Duty/Standby Feed Pumps DAF Effluent Buffer Tank Duty/Standby Effluent Pumps Air Compressor Climate Controlled Electrical Enclosure Plug and Play Parameter Design Data Flow (gpm) 730 Flow (m3/h) 165 TSS (mg/L) 1250 Design Data Previous Project Next Project Submit a Project Profile Have a Question?
